Fishing
Belize boasts one of the hemisphere’s most healthy reef systems due to protected areas by the government, the practice of catch and release with laws protecting all three sport fishes; Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit. You can fish for bonefish from the flats at the cut just north of San Pedro, from the beaches north of the cut and from the docks and beaches in town and south of town.
Since many rivers are connected to the Caribbean Sea, steering from a prime area to the next is easy. Fishing is generally rated to be excellent all year long. However, the months of June through September host a few dedicated events that make fishing in Belize a phenomenal experience.
Belize is the ideal destination for anglers, from the professional to the recreational. Sport fishing is equally rewarding and the chances of landing a grand slam title is very achievable.
